Kentucky SBDC

Your Guiding Light

RURAL DEVELOPMENT

The Kentucky SBDC has been an amazing resource for our business. It’s hard to know what all needs to be completed in the early days of a business and the SBDC has the expertise to lead new business owners and farmers through each step.

Rebecca North Purchases Coffee Shop With Assistance From Her Local SBDC

Rebecca North always had a dream of opening up her own coffee shop. She had worked at Sacred Grounds in London, KY but in early 2020 was laid off because business had slowed down. That was when Rebecca thought now was the best time to start her own coffee shop. She reached out to the Kentucky SBDC in London for assistance in starting up the business. Rebecca and her SBDC Business Coach discussed starting out with a kiosk cart in the hospital when she was introduced with the opportunity to purchase Sacred Grounds. Rebecca was able to purchase the assets of Sacred Ground Coffees after her Business Coach assisted her in obtaining loans and applying for licenses.

Kate Snyder Brings Small Community Together With Local Bookstore

Kate Snyder first reached out to the Kentucky SBDC in Berea to ask for assistance in developing a business plan and accompanying financial projections in early 2021. Prior to becoming an entrepreneur, Snyder worked as an administrator of a local non-profit arts organization and was also a working artist. Her love for the Danville community fueled Snyder’s desire to envision and ultimately create a business that would hopefully encourage her home community to thrive following the COVID-19 pandemic and ultimately create a vibrant quality of life for families. Over the spring and summer, the client and coach worked diligently to develop a business plan and financial projections that informed Snyder on the viability of her proposed venture.
