Barranquitas SBTDC Director assisted in creating a business plan, request local agricultural incentives and submit the application for the Payroll Protection Program (PPP). Fortunately, they received the PPP Loan for the amount of $8,245 and were able to retain their current staff.

As a result of the services offered by the PR SBTDC, Mrs. Marmil Ramos and Mr. José L. Medina obtained an SBA guaranteed loan for $187,400 with Banco Popular de Puerto Rico. In addition, they invested $56,291 of their equity to acquire the property, repair, and improve the facilities, and for working capital.

With the assistance of PR SBTDC, a woman owned business was created with two job positions and excellent initial sales due to the digital marketing solutions provided. Yunielis Clemente declared: "The sales impact was of double digit, thanks PR SBTDC for the counseling in the area of digital marketing solutions."

Jaloree Lantigua is a women owned business who is licensed as a speech therapist and specialized in robotics, video game development, special education, autism and in assistive technology. As a client she expressed “The PR SBDC has provided professional training, digital marketing and networking tools for the growth of my business. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the SBDC has been a key resource for the development and growth of STREAM Technologies in a global crisis.

Arecibo SBTDC was an advisor providing the proper orientations regarding the CARES Act Relief Program. As a result of SBTDC guidance, Marbella Clinic Laboratory applied and obtained funds under the SBA Paycheck Protection Program and Economic Injury Disaster Loan Program for the amount of $212,910. Marbella Clinic Laboratory was able to maintain its workforce of seven employees and continues providing health care services to the community.

“The textile industry was a main component of Puerto Rico's manufacturing sectors. Recently, this industry has re-emerged and continues growing. During the pandemic, the industrial textile manufacturing sector was crucial to assist and produce necessary equipment for health care workers”, said Mr. Sierra.

During this pandemic, The Caguas Service Center contacted its clients who are success stories, for this purpose the consultant assisted Cristal Diaz, to complete the application for the SBA EIDL disaster loan including the $10,000 advance. SBA disbursed under the EIDL program $19,000. The Caguas SBTDC consultant assisted Ms. Diaz with a new incentive program from the PR Tourism Company (government agency) for these businesses affected by the COVID 19 pandemic.
