Blinn College SBDC Provides Rural Boutique Hotel With Startup Assistance
James and Jennifer Llewellyn sought assistance from Blinn College SBDC summer 2017 to discuss building a dome hotel in the small community of Kenney, Texas. They had the concept but did not have the loan secured and needed some direction on how to acquire a loan. Aware of a similar housing development that the SBDC helped with, James was hopeful that the center could do the same for them. The SBDC helped them with the loan package, which was approved and funded, a marketing plan and website. This has been instrumental in their early success.
Results: Country Dome Suites created 5 full-time jobs, had personal injection of $60,000 and received a conventional business loan from Citizens State Bank (Brenham) in the amount of $575,000.
