Service-Disabled Veteran Jarod Stukes Makes Moves for You

With over 19 years' experience in transportation, logistics and retail management, Jarod Stukes started Stukes Dynasty Transportation, LLC (SDT) to help people and businesses in his community reduce waste, conserve energy and prevent pollution. The company, which offers junk and debris removal as well as pick-up and delivery services, opened for business in October of 2020 and has already seen impressive growth in its first year. Stukes’ SBDC consultant helped him develop a business plan, apply for loans, file legal documents, structure his business and implement accounting best practices. Stukes also received help from consultant Robert Jones who reviewed Stukes’ website proposal and provided feedback about his marketing strategy.

Mesquite Tree Hill Ranch and Zoo

MTH Ranch and Zoo is a petting zoo in the rural town of Iowa Park, TX that is the perfect spot for educational family outings, field trips, or birthday parties. After starting a goat farm following retirement from the military, the Hydens began with goat milk, soap, and lotion at the weekly Farmer’s Market. The farm flourished into what is now MTH Ranch and Zoo, which is home to a zonkey, kangaroos, porcupines, the three largest rodents in the world, and many more exotic and endangered animals.

Mayberry Embraces Lifelong Learning and Service

After serving his country in the U.S. Air force, Rodney Mayberry took an entrepreneurial path by starting R.M. Electrical Contractors in 1990. Through the years, he and his family engaged in long-term SBDC training to fine-tune his business and financial skills. When the pandemic hit, the SBDC assisted with obtaining SBA EIDL and PPP forgivable loans to help survive the business downturn. Rodney believes in paying it forward, sharing his technical expertise and experience in the training of electricians, and he hopes to someday develop a business incubator for under-represented minority entrepreneurs. "SBDC has been there for us for the last two decades, providing advice and resources for our small business" – Rodney Mayberry
