WiscLift: Leveraging key partnerships to take flight

Building on his military experience and seeing the lack of internet access In rural Wisconsin, Scott "LB" Williams decided to change that with a continuously flown drone that can provide reliable communications. WiscLift is a family run business — his family just happen to be experts in this field. WiscLift's co-founder and media manager Greta is LB’s wife. Their 17-year-old son Mac is a network engineer and the best pilot of the TeleLift and Drangonfly drones in the world.

Sticking with the Family Business

As a retired U.S. Navy veteran and the son of a gunsmith, Mike Miller knew exactly what to do when he decided to work for himself. There’s no room for error with Mike and Spartan Precision Gunsmithing. When manufacturing his custom bolt-action rifles, he deals with tolerances of about .0005 of an inch. To obtain a business loan for the necessary equipment, Mike worked with the Wyoming SBDC Network to develop an in-depth business plan and financial projections. Spartan Precision Gunsmithing now boasts equipment from metalworking machinery to a laser engraver. Mike’s shop is currently growing to accommodate the new advanced equipment and has dedicated areas for polymer pistol frame customization, Cerakote application, and gun bluing.
